Yes! Virtual sessions are as effective as in-person psychotherapy. Online therapy allows clients more flexibility in location and increases access to services, especially those in more rural areas or who have more difficulty leaving home for appointments. I’m a board-certified clinical geropsychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology. This means I completed a year of specialized training in providing psychological services to older adults. I completed a review of my work and oral examination by peers, and was deemed to meet criteria for specialty practice in providing services to older adults.
Beyond meeting criteria to have a degree from a university and a license to practice from a state, this means that my actual clinical practice has been reviewed and vetted by those doing the same work within the same speciality.
